About Us

Spring Hill Solutions is a carbon management, clean energy, and business sustainability consulting firm based in Burlington, Vermont.

We work collaboratively with our clients – businesses, institutions, and organizations of all sizes – to create positive social and environmental change by focusing on the issues that are foremost on their minds and the minds of their stakeholders: planning for success and long-term viability in the context of climate change, rising energy costs, and growing sustainability imperatives.

Our three distinct but related service areas – Carbon Management, Clean Energy, and Business Sustainability – are custom-designed to meet our clients’ unique sustainability needs and goals while streamlining the process of going green.

Staff

Greg Strong, President [back to top]
Building on fifteen years of experience designing, developing, assessing, and marketing renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and services, Greg founded Spring Hill Solutions in 2002. He offers expertise in systems design and integration, project management, research, strategic planning and business development, and commercialization in the areas of clean energy, sustainability, and carbon management.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. He is a published writer of both fiction and non-fiction, as well as an instructor for the National Outdoor Leadership School, the Adirondack Mountain Club’s Winter Mountaineering School, and the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Mountain Leadership School. He lives in his hometown of Burlington, Vermont with his fun, gorgeous, and inspiring family: Jena, Aviva, and Pearl.

Jon Griesser, Vice President [back to top]
Jon has worked in the environmental field for over a decade with land trusts, legal advocacy groups, and watershed organizations. Most recently, as a business manager and small business owner, he has implemented energy efficient and sustainable solutions in practical and cost-effective ways. His proficiencies are business and project management and analyzing the legal, scientific, and economic aspects of environmental issues.

Jon has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Government from St. Lawrence University and a Master of Science in Environmental Policy from Bard College. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Champlain College. He is a member of the Burlington Bike Council, an avid traveler, a biking and snowboarding fanatic, an aspiring gardener, and a lover of wine and food, especially if it's Italian. Jon lives in Burlington, Vermont with his beautiful and supportive wife Sarah and their amazing, German Shorthaired Pointer, Rigi.

Noah Pollock, Project Manager [back to top]
Noah hails from Delmar, NY, and graduated from Cornell University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources. He recently earned a Master's degree from the Rubenstein School for Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Vermont, where he studied sustainable community development and ecological economics.

Noah continues his work as a Project Assistant at the Gund Institute of Ecological Economics. A passionate outdoorsman, aspring permiculturist, capable woodworker, and interdisciplinary thinker, he joined the Spring Hill Solutions team in December, 2007.

Melissa Meece, Marketing and Office Manager [back to top]
Melissa is responsible for keeping our office running smoothly, from marketing and office administration to bookkeeping. Well versed at juggling multiple tasks at once, Melissa is also a Project Manager where she can utilize her environmental background and client relations skills.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Vassar College, and has focused much of her academic and professional career on waste management and recycling. Melissa has been living in Vermont since 2007 where her passions for sustainable living and working close to nature are satisfied on a daily basis.

Damon Lane, Project Manager [back to top]
Damon comes to Spring Hill with an MSc in Sustainable Energy Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and experience in hydropower, transportation research, GIS, data collection and analysis. In his few years in Burlington, he has been active in the community, volunteering for several organizations including the District Energy team and Conservation Board. Damon is working to lower his own environmental impact through retrofits to his house, by shifting to a more local and plant based diet, and by preferring non-motorized transport.

Shelly Martin, Project Manager [back to top]
Shelly, a native Vermonter, studied climate change during her undergraduate years at St. Lawrence University. She attended the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in December 2007 and after graduating in May 2008, Shelly organized a climate change conference for undergraduate students for the Northern Forest Alliance. After her internship, she became the Sustainable coordinator for the Mt. Mansfield Winter Academy. Shelly offers strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills and expertise in the assessment of GHG emissions and management strategies. Shelly currently conducts carbon inventories and analyses, as well as clean energy assessments for Spring Hill Solutions.

Jena Strong, Strategic Advisor [back to top]
Strategic advisor, coach, writer, and editor: Jena wears many hats. She does everything possible to help the Spring Hill team prioritize, make decisions, identify and pursue opportunities, and function as happily and efficiently as possible.
